Feeling Hard-Pressed!

It has been a while since we have had an art event and autumn seems the perfect time to snuggle up inside and get creative!

Your Periodic Pottering task is as follows! You need to create a creative sketch incorporating up to five pressed leaves (or as pressed as you can get them given the amount of time you have). You shouldn't draw on the leaves, but your drawing should connect to the leaves (or leaf if you so choose) and be an integral part of the design.

The theme? Thankful Knights! What are knights particularly thankful about? I want to see!

The Prizes:

The winner will get a Golden Leafy Aura to help them celebrate Fall!
Participation prizes of Large Purple Fireworks will be given out to every entry, because YAY! Purple Boomy FUN!!

How to Enter:

Post your entries in this thread here and please include the following in your post:
Your Knights name
Link to a photo of the materials with ID card*
Link to an in-progress picture with ID card*
Link to the finished picture with ID card*
Host your images on Imgur. You don't need to make an account--just upload them
Double check your entry to make sure you have three working links to each entry, and that it follows the template below.

*(ID card = your knight name and date written on a piece of paper or card)

Entry Template:
Knight Name:
Creation Link:
Creation Link:
Finished Link:

Other rules/information
You may enter more than once, but only one entry would be eligible for a prize.
Contest will finish at 11:59pm 25 November game time
Leaves used should be whole. No cutting them down to a preferred shape!
Glue can be used to ensure the leaves stay put!
All photos must have a card/paper in them with your knight name written on it.
You may edit your post up until the deadline.
Have fun creating!

Wanting hand drawn art please!

The idea is for this to be hand drawn around and incorporating leaves, so I'm not wanting computer generated art. The end result should be quite simple so don't be scared to enter in any stick figure drawings! When it comes to judging I'll be taking into account how well your chosen leaves fit into your idea and how original your idea is. You don't have to be a fantastic artist to win!

Femonic, I don't really understand what you are saying there. All we want is a slip of paper next to your art work with your name and date. You should be able to just write that out by hand!

Check this out!

If you are still unclear, take a look here which is a page that gives examples of what we are after!

I am enlightened

That link to the examples made a ton of sense, I was about to do it an entirely different (and possibly incorrect) way

No leaves?

So it just snowed where I lived, and we've been done celebrating fall for a while. I can try to get some plastic leaves tomorrow, but if I can't, may I print out a leaf/ves and cut it out? Thanks.

No leaves?

I understand that it won't be the ideal time for autumn leaves everywhere, so I'm fine with fresh leaves from those lucky Knights entering summer, or artificial leaves for those of you firmly in winter. House plant leaves may be a handy substitute, but ask the plant owner first!

Digital leaf

Can you use a google image of a random leaf and enter the contest with that?
Perhaps specify some rules for digital artists.
Such as you cannot go beyond this resolution.

Hera had previously touched

Hera had previously touched on the subject in her first response:

"The idea is for this to be hand drawn around and incorporating leaves, so I'm not wanting computer generated art."

I'd guess taking a digital printed leaf would be using computer generated art which is not what they are looking for. I'm assuming there are no rules posted for digital artists here because that just isn't the idea behind this competition.

I have a question: What

I have a question:

What mediums can we use for traditional? Or does it have to be leaves + inked drawing

Also can i paint the leaves with acrylic paint for coherence or just using natural leaf color?

I'd like a further explanation before i dig onto creating, thanks in advance.

Natural leaf color, please!

Natural leaf color, please! The idea is that the design links to the leaf but the leaf isn't drawn on or altered in any way. From the rules: "You shouldn't draw on the leaves, but your drawing should connect to the leaves (or leaf if you so choose) and be an integral part of the design."

Are we allowed to color our drawing? (Not the leaves)

You can...

You can, but you aren't going to get extra points for that. Sketch is defined as "a simply or hastily executed drawing or painting, especially a preliminary one, giving the essential features without the details."

I understand it isn't possible to press aloe; feel free to use it whole. I'll pretend it is flat!

Sharpies and the Like

Hi Poobloo here! I was just wondering what the rules are behind using sharpies and other pens such as that to darken the lines of the drawing; just to get beyond annoying lighting and that kind of stuff. Also best of luck to other participants!

I forgot my ID Card

I think I misread and I thought only the finished picture only had to have the ID Card. Is there anyway that I can do this differently? I don't want to have to start all over after spending so much time on this. I have all the pictures, but only the final picture has the ID Card

From Pumpkin Event

From the pumpkin event I believe Ragga-Prince had the same thing happen, Hera's response was:

"(Ragga-Prince - rules state cards in all pictures so this may impact negatively in the case of a tie breaker or similar situation.)"
